I was recently there and you had a dish called chipotle lime cilantro quinoa and was awesome how can I get the recipe ,,, very very good
Hi Steve – We’re so glad you enjoyed that dish. We don’t currently share that recipe, but you never know if we will! Stay tuned!
Thank you so much for the new vegan offerings!
Is the fresh herb thai slaw vegan? That’s what the menu online says. It also says black bean chili is being served (it doesn’t have the Texas only). And the Santa Fe pasta vegan pasta wasn’t mentioned either
I went today to check out the vegan options. Though I am not vegan, I am kosher, and vegan is often the only real option in most places due to varying definitions of what it means for something to be vegetarian.
However, I was very disappointed at my visit. Despite the black bean soup being on the menu, it wasn’t there. There was only one vegetarian soup, and it was the parmesan soup with vegetables and tomatoes. The only vegan pasta was the lemon linguine. I’d love to have tried some of the vegetarian items with cheese in them, but with the disclaimer that you can’t guarantee they don’t have animal rennet in them, I couldn’t risk it. So I was left with some linguine and some grapes, which isn’t really that great a selection for a $13 lunch bill.
I did get a glimmer of hope when I saw the sugar free chocolate mousse; however, it wasn’t listed as either vegan or vegetarian. I don’t know if this was due to the eggs, or if it had gelatin in them. The latter I would have to avoid, but not the former. I remembered that your site said managers keep an ingredients list around, so I found him and asked what it had in it. He didn’t know and couldn’t find out. He said he’d have to call the chef. So he did, but still couldn’t get an answer: so ixnay on the oussemay.
I guess I figured that in a place that offers vegan items, there should be at least one vegan soup. It’s not like it is inedible for non-Vegans… anyone can eat the black bean soup and not feel like they are submitting to veganism. Instead, there wasn’t anything I could really eat outside of the grapes and linguine.
Hi Mike – We are very sorry for your experience. Due to the fact we make all of our menu items fresh, we occasionally run out. If you have a specific menu item in mind, we recommend calling ahead. All of our locations should have a full ingredient list and we will be sure to update the location.
I apologize for my tone in that post. I was upset earlier because I had high hopes for the experience, and I guess I let that translate into a really obnoxious post. I’m not as upset as I was earlier. I will most likely try out the restaurant again in the future, but if they’re really out of items this early in May, it’s probably not going to be this month.
Hi Mike – The location may have just run out that day due to unforeseen high demand, please be sure to call ahead to make sure that soup will be available on the day you are thinking of going!

My husband and I are strict low fat / no fat Vegans. The Black Bean Soup- is our favorite soup. I wish we could get it more often. Why is it a regular item (only) in Texas? Isn’t that the BEEF state? We love Soup Plantation/Sweet Tomatoes and eat there at least once a week. We accredit Soup Plantations for helping us to loose a combined total weight of over 250 lbs. It is nice to have a restaraunt with so many choices. The managers will go above and beyond to make sure we get what we want. We still have more to loose, but I always feel like you guys have our back in our desire to achieve great health. Food is medicine. Thanks
Thank you so much for sharing your story! We continually test different soups in different markets, so you don’t know what will change!
sweet tomatoes is a very special restaurant for everybody
I prefer to go to sweet tomatoes to dinner instead of choice of others , because I find what I want to eat for me and my family. thank you.
for me there is no comments everything is good for me.
I apologize for the inconvenience of the locations that you have but I have to travel about 12 miles to visit you, me and my family are very grateful to go dinner in sweet tomatoes every Sunday.
I love ST for the salad, but am consistently disappointed in the lack of gluten free soup options. Considering the vast majority of the soups don’t have noodles in them, it should be very easy to replace the wheat flour with corn or potato starch, thus making them more accessible to more people. With more people finding themselves gluten free by necessity or choice, it just makes sense to me that more places would make this simple change. Maybe do a specialty month that includes a gluten free pasta? I know that one wouldn’t be so easy. But to replace your soup coagulant with a GF option would make a huge community very happy.
Thank you for the suggestion, Desiree. We are always looking for opportunities to improve our menu offerings.
I TOTALLY agree!! I check the blog constantly because my kids and family love going here, but I am GF. I get so bummed paying dinner prices for what amounts to salad and a bowl of chili. I really think ST could make some bank if they consistently carried more GF options.
I agree too! I dream of the day I will eat clam chowder at souplantation again!
I totally agree! I dream of the day when I can eat Souplantation’s delicious clam chowder again.
Was at Souplantation today for lunch and had the cold lemon linguine with fresh basil and tomatoes. Wow was it light and delicious!! May I please have the recipe or where can I find it??
Thank you so much!
Hi Cathy – We haven’t shared that recipe quite yet, but we’re so glad you enjoyed it!
Are any of your salad dressings, soups, pastas or baked goods soy-free?
Hi! You can ask a manager at your local location for a full list of ingredients for all our menu items.
I agree with Desiree and Tara above. I am disappointed in Sweet Tomatoes gluten-free offerings. Surely, there is a way to substitute the thickener (filler) in the soups with another gluten-free form (i.e. potato or corn starch, most likely potato). If I can cook, and make gluten-free soups at home, I have no doubt that ST can do it too. In my opinion, ST is behind the times in updating its menu. I think ST is missing out on a whole group of people who really can’t eat at its restaurants, and therefore, do not earn their business. Until then, more gluten-free friendly restaurants like Red Robin (separate fryer for french fries and such), Wildfire, Coopers Hawk, Jason’s Deli (all of which have separate gluten-free menus and have items which are designated as gluten-free) will earn my business! Come ‘on ST marketing/sales team, you can do better!!
Thank you for your feedback, Julie. We are continually trying to improve our menu offerings to please the tastes and dietary restrictions of all our guests. We do change our gluten-free offerings each month and hope that future month’s menus are more pleasing to you.
Used to go to Sweet Tomatoes in Ft Myers Fl and loved it. I will be going for the first time in The Villages Fl tomorrow. I am highly allergic to MSG. I am hoping that you do not have it in any of your items…like soup, salad dressings?? Please tell me you don’t use it in any items or seasonings.
Hi Gerryann – We do not use any MSG in our menu items 🙂
