Los Angeles Souplantation Guests! Meet Pete, a Hydroponic Farmer that Serves Up Butter Lettuce
As the delicious limited time menu offering of Chicken and Vegetarian Wraps are being devoured in Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes in California and Arizona, Los Angeles guests are in for a real treat!
Pete Overgaag, a third-generation greenhouse grower and CEO of Hollandia Produce LP, will be sharing his hydroponically-grown vegetables story at The Promenade at the Howard Hughes Center Souplantation this Thursday, July 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Beginning at 6:30, each family will receive a free “Living Butter Lettuce” from Hollandia Produce while supplies last. Hydroponic butter lettuce is grown in a greenhouse and fed nutrients through purified water and raised in a clean, controlled environment. Their roots never touch the outside soil.
Joining Pete will be Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp. CEO John Morberg. Garden Fresh is the parent company of Souplantation.
“We are thrilled to work with farmers like Pete who utilizes the latest hydroponic technology to grow farm-fresh food. Working with Pete and other local farmers are part of our ‘Discover Fresh’ brand that brings made-from- scratch menu items to our guests,” John says.
Pete says, “Providing the best available butter lettuce to customers like Garden Fresh is what we love to do every day. Like Souplantation restaurants, we strive to offer the freshest products for people to enjoy.”
