Hal, founder and executive director of Project Mobility: Cycles for Life, hasinvolved with bicycles as a sport, business and recreation for over 36 years. His interest in “adaptive cycling,” bicycles for people with disabilities – was originally spurred when his own son, Jacob was unable to ride a bike with the family due to his Cerebral Palsy.  Hal wanted to find a way for Jacob to join the family on their bike rides.  Adaptive cycles provided the necessary equipment for Jacob to participate.

Hal witnessed first-hand the positive difference cycling made in his own son’s life. The benefits were immense in regards to Jacob’s physical, but also to him mentally.  At this point, Hal decided that many others could be helped in the very same way. What started out as a simple vision to get Jacob on a bike is now seeing thousands of children and adults experiencing the freedom of mobility.
