6 Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes Recipe Hacks
Inspiration comes in many forms. A work of art, a secret muse – or even our flavorful salad bar can awaken the creative spirit within you. While the Mona Lisa sure is easy on the eyes, our favorite creations are the ones that make our taste buds tingle!
With over 50 fresh ingredients on our salad bar and a bounty of fresh bakery items, made from scratch soups and a decadent dessert bar – designing your own delicious recipes is what Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes is all about! To find some of our favorite or – dare we even say – genius receipt hacks, we scoured Instagram and the submissions to our Design Your Own Delicious contest, to find the following culinary masterpieces. Trust us, the soft serve possibilities have never seemed so endless!
1) Champion Chicken Chopped Salad
Recipe hack #1 comes from Celia S., who artfully tops a rainbow of fresh veggies with warm, chopped chicken. The real hook? Her secret “Champion Dressing”, made by combining our Honey Mustard and Fat-Free Ranch Dressings. This addition is obviously what makes this recipe a “winner” in our book (add some freshly-baked Focaccia as a side to turn up the YUMMINESS of this meal!).
2) Insane for Grains Bowl
Fuel up on fiber with this recipe hack from @TOOFUNWEST. Start with a bed of mixed greens and pile on goodies like green peas, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, sweet corn and a crunchy topper (like crispy wontons or croutons). While this bowl used our Quinoa and Feta Salad and Italian Orzo (available in August), try a scoop of Three Bean Marinade or Greek Couscous with Feta & Pine Nuts (available September 17th-28th).
3.) Kickin’ Cornbread Soup
No more putting your cornbread on the side – it takes center stage with this recipe hack from @mssasha. Start with a piece of Buttermilk Cornbread and break it open to help soak up all the deliciousness you’re about to add. Next, add Deep Kettle House Chili and a ladle of Classic Creamy Tomato Soup (available September 18th-24th). Top it off with cheddar cheese, sour cream, green onions and red chili flakes – if you’re ready to kick it up a notch.
4) Creamy Chicken Mushroom Alfredo with Penne
Nathan M. transformed our penne pasta with a sprinkle of bacon bits, a dash of green onions, a pinch of crushed red peppers, a hint of lemon, some mushrooms, and pieces of his chicken skewer in this drool-worthy recipe hack.
5) Sweet Potato Sundae
Have you ever thought about topping a superfood with soft serve? Never limit your culinary creativity! This dessert hack by Jessica K. shows just how tasty a sweet spud can be!
6) Chocolate Brownie Mousse Bite Delight
Is there such a thing as too much chocolate? This recipe hack by Cori G. echoes our opinion – no way! The layered dessert is made up of a halved brownie bite filled with chocolate mousse and topped with chocolate soft serve, chocolate syrup and chocolate sprinkles!
If these recipe hacks weren’t enough “food-spiration” for you, be sure to follow our Instagram account – we’re sharing all of our favorite recipe hacks there! And, be sure to tag all of your palate-pleasing pics with @Souplantation or #SweetTomatoes so we can see and share them, too!
Sweet Potato Sundae. What?! I want that. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Be sure to share a pic when you make one, Ian!
Hi I am so excited to discover your blog so we can ask questions. We just discovered that our daughter is very sensitive to MSG. We used to eat out a lot and now we are trying to find very clean and healthy restaurant to go to. Do you put any MSG or hydrolyzed soy/veg protein into your food? I know sometimes MSG is hidden in a lot of ingredients, but if you prepare your salad dressing from scratch usually you can avoid MSG. Thank you so much!! We will be so excited to be frequent customers if we can eat the food without worries.
Hi Kathy – Our menu items contain no added MSG. We invite you to request a full list of ingredients from the store manager at your next visit so you know you and your family can dine without worry.
Hi. Let me start off by saying I love souplantation! I have been coming here since i was 15 years old, I am now 23. I visit atleast twice a week. My favorite thing is the chicken wonton salad. Sometimes I come here just for the salad! Why did you guys take out the chicken ?
-Courtney
Hi Courtney – thank you so much for continuing to visit us! We decided to remove the chicken from that particular salad so more guests are able to enjoy that particular dish. We do appreciate your feedback and will be sure to let our Culinary Team know your thoughts!
These look delicious! I’m leaving now to buy some ingredients to get cookin!
The location near me doesn’t offer chicken skewer chunks 🙁
🙁 So sorry, Chrissy. We’re working on updating many of our locations, so hopefully they will have them sooner rather than later.
When are you going to put the mushroom soup back on the regular menu?
Hi Ronald, you’ll be excited to know our Mushroom Soup will be available all of October!
Where can I find the recipe for the Thai Shrimp and Udon soup served this month (Sep 2014)? It is absolutely delicious and as I know it is due to vanish in a few days, I’d love to know how to replicate it. Thanks.
Hi Jan – We’re so happy you like our soup! At this time, we’re keeping that recipe our secret 😉
Hello
I love Souplantation and have been going to the location in Rancho Cucamonga. I noticed that Chino, Ca has a new one. So my family and I decided to check it out. First off, not sure if I like the new look. Second it’s super crowded, the hot food is right beside the line where the salads are located and we were all bumping each other. Also the setting seems as if they want you out fast, like a small cafe, not really a family dinner setting. And the new drink fountain which is only 1 big machine with different kinds of lemonade, sodas, etc. is very time consuming. There was a long line just to get a drink. So I sure hope all locations don’t set up their restaurant like the one in Chino, Ca. Thank you for your time.
Thank you for visiting our new location and sharing your feedback, Linda. We hope as we settle into our newest space, we are able to fix any issues that concern our customers.
Just as you took out the chicken in your wonton salad so more people could enjoy it, would you consider using vegetarian broth in your soups so more people could enjoy them. Many of your soups have beef or chicken broth which vegetarians would probably not eat. Many of your soups could be made available to more people if you used vegetable broth. Usually there are only one or two vegetarian soups available.
Hi Adi – Thank you for your feedback. We are continuing to try and evolve our menu items and love to know your ideas.
I can’t rave about Sweet Tomatoes enough and my Overland Park location has THE BEST staff!! Was wondering why Sweet Potatoes are not offered at our location? Could we get them? I LOVE LOVE LOVE sweet potatoes!!
Hi Courtney – We offer sweet potatoes during certain seasons. Keep an eye on our menu!
Sweet tomatoes is our whole family’s favorite restaurant–but- we don’t have one in our town. The closest is 178 miles away. Please check out the Quad Cities IL/IA border. SEE the Quad City Chamber of Commerce. We having over 450,000 people in all the joined cities. Iowa cities have more income but wherever you put one “They will come” . we don’t have enough places to eat !!! We need you !
I absolutely love your Coleman and Bernal locations in San Jose, CA
The Staff at both locations is friendly and welcoming and the food is always great.
I would be so happy if you could perhaps have your Chicken Pot Pie Stew be a year round item since I could eat anything “chicken pot pie” related year-round. 🙂 Would it be possible to also have you please post the recipe for your wonderful Herb Rice ? I think its called herb rice.. or vegetarian rice… I’m not sure..I know its not the Artichoke rice.. its white rice or white long grain rice with specks of green herbs in it … wonderful and fluffy …I would love to be able to recreate your wonderful rice dish at home . Thank You 🙂
